Program Description:
Nursing: Singapore 2020_Nov4

This two-week study tour will provide ten students (third year Bachelor of Nursing or second year Masters of Clinical Nursing) the opportunity to participate in and to visit Nursing academic and clinical facilities in Singapore.

You will visit Ngee Ann Polytechnic to participate in academic activities such as lectures, simulation and tutorials with other nursing students. Ngee Ann Polytechnic has exceptional teaching and simulation learning facilities, and there will be a clinical observation experience at local healthcare facilities including hospitals and/or clinics. During your time in Singapore, you will develop cultural awareness and an understanding of nursing and the healthcare system in a Singaporean context. But it’s not all work; take the opportunity to shop in one of the world’s most iconic streets – Orchard Road; eat mouth-watering satays at roadside stalls, or spend the day at Singapore’s playground, Sentosa Island.

from an OS-HELP loan. Please review the Study Overseas website to check your eligibility to receive funding and how to apply.

Please note that there will be a limited number of OS-Help Loans available in 2020, and some applicants may not be eligible for an OS-Help Loan. OS-HELP loans can only be processed once students have submitted their loan application forms and have met all eligibility requirements. Once approved, it can take 3-4 weeks for approved students to receive the funding.

Comprehensive travel insurance is provided by the University of Adelaide to students in this program free of charge.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria*

This program is designed for both Bachelor of Nursing students in their third year of study, enrolled in ‘Nursing in an International Context’ and Master of Clinical nursing students in their second year of study, enrolled in “Clinical Nursing practice 3“. Selections for this program will be made on the basis of your answers to the application questionnaires, your GPA, and your University engagement.

*Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee you a place on the tour. Students will be selected by a panel of faculty, academic and school staff.

Those students wishing to apply for OS-HELP must have completed at least 24 units which need to be recorded on their transcripts at the time of application and must have at least 3 units of study to complete on completion of this study tour.

The tour is limited to ten students. Selection for this tour will be made based on a combination of GPA and responses to the ‘About Me’ questionnaire within the GLAS application.

  • A panel will shortlist applicants based on a combination of GPA and application responses.
  • The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences will conduct a degree check for each shortlisted student and approve the student for credit. This is an automatic internal process and students do not have to take any action for this to occur.
  • After the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences has completed the degree check, students will be notified of their application outcome by Study Overseas.
  • Students will be required to pay an AU$250 deposit within 14 days of their selection for this program.

Application and Deadlines

  • Check eligibility against criteria above
  • Students can apply for up to two study tours, but will only be selected for one. Separate applications will need to be made for each study tour.
  • If you are applying for two study tours which are scheduled on the same dates (for example Germany and Japan), you will need to email Study Overseas notifying them, as they will have to enable this on your GLAS profile before you can submit both applications.
  • Dependent on high demand, you may be offered a place on a study tour that you did not apply for.
  • Begin your application by clicking ‘Apply Now’ above before the deadline of 4th November 2019.
  • Students will be merit-selected for this program. Applications will be assessed on the following:
    • Applicant’s answers to the ‘About Me’ Questionnaire in their GLAS application
    • Applicant’s GPA
    • Relevant courses that the applicant has already completed (as specified on the applicant’s University transcript)

Academic Credit

All credit is decided and pre-approved by the Adelaide Nursing School. Once selected for the program, you must enrol in NURSING 3007OL - Nursing in an International Context. For more information about content and assessments, please see the 'Nursing in an International Context' course outline in Course Planner when it is available.

This study tour will contribute towards an overseas component for your course, and you must be aware that you will not receive 3 units of credit by simply participating in this study tour, as it only comprises an additional element of the entire course.
