Trento

The University of Trento is offering University of Adelaide students the choice of two International Summer School courses in 2020.

1. Summer School in Psychological Humanities and Cognitive Science, 6 - 17 July 2020

This Summer School explores mental illness and psychological well-being from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Psychological and cognitive sciences, but also literary, cultural, philosophical, sociological and linguistic sciences have contributed a diversity of outlooks and research methods to the study of the mind and its processes, as well as to those of healing individual and collective traumas. The program is based on the premise that, in order to comprehend mental illness, to promote health and empathy, and to build inclusive societies, a narrative-based, subject-centered and culture-bound approach can complement psychological and cognitive studies.

The program combines collaborative lectures and workshops, with outdoor activities, such as: guided visits to Freud Promenade (Bolzano), to the former Psychiatric Hospital of Pergine Valsugana (1882-2002) and to the Modern and Contemporary Art Museum (MART) in Rovereto, in addition to forest and art bathing.

For further information about this Summer School course please see the Psychological Humanities and Cognitive Science page.

2. Sustainable Summer School,
7 July - 24 July 2020

Admission to this program is reserved for senior undergraduate and postgraduate students with a background in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture and is focussed on:

- The concepts of sustainability and circular economy
- Waste and wastewater management at different scales
- Contaminated sites: remediation and valorization
- Landscape and urban planning design approaches
- Agrifood: sustainable agriculture for high-quality food

Students will also participate in a series of field visits in order to learn about innovative case studies currently active in the Trentino region, such as:
- the anaerobic digestion plant of Cadino
- remediation of the landfill of Ischia Podetti
- solutions for the kerbside collection of municipal solid waste in Trento
- Students will also visit the Edmund Mach Foundation research and innovation center.

For further information about this Summer School course please see the Sustainable Summer page.

Please note that students will be travelling independently to Italy. This is a regarded as a short-term exchange, rather than a study tour led by University of Adelaide staff.
