Program Description:
The Iowa Caucuses 2019 -190909

This winter tour begins in the big city: Chicago, Illinois. We will stay in the heart of the metropolis, and sight see in one of America’s great cosmopolitan global cities. Our visit to the Art Institute of Chicago will be a highlight. We will then take a charter bus to the American heartland – small town Iowa --- where we will observe American politics in action. The Iowa Caucus is the first state primary of the presidential election and we will be in the midst of this global media event. We will stay at Simpson College where we will join in campus life while studying American political history and making excursions to see presidential campaign events. Campus life experiences will include living in dorms, observing classes, socialising with American student exchange partners, and attending Campus student events. Our Caucus activities will include meetings with media professionals, political campaign advisors, and ‘door knocking’ with local campaigners. Overall, the tour will introduce students to the political divisions of American life and a very different university experience.
